Professional Bio
Shannon Klare is a southern housewife, born and raised in Texas. As a teenager, she found herself in a small West Texas town. There, she earned an appreciation for small town living and sports – both prominent elements in her writing today. When she isn’t writing or daydreaming new plots, Shannon is a reality TV fanatic and movie connoisseur. SURVIVING ADAM MEADE is her debut novel.
The real me...
Hi everyone! I know this is the part where I’m supposed give you a detailed account of who I am, but no one wants four paragraphs worth of biography. That said, I’ll keep it short and simple. In my day-to-day life, I’m a reality t.v. watching, Hobby Lobby going, all-time crafting, housewife.
For those wanting the extended version:
I started writing when I was young – we’re talking MacIntosh computer & Word Pad young. None of those stories came to fruition; they were mainly a way to entertain myself.
In 2012, I was home for an extended period and needed a hobby to keep myself entertained. On a whim, I started writing again and decided to share it online. That was the first time I’d ever let anyone read my stories. It was nerve-wracking to say the least.
Four years later, I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of ten grand prize winners in a Target writing contest. My short story, Hooded was a modern take on Robin Hood and landed me a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster Inc. October 2016, the Once Upon Now anthology was released into the world.
Shortly after Once Upon Now released, I decided to put Surviving Adam Meade on the Swoon Reads website. I knew of another writer who received a publishing deal with them, so I thought it might be worth a try. December 2016, I had a phone conference with Swoon Reads and was offered a publishing deal for Surviving Adam Meade. I can’t explain how excited I am, knowing Adam and Claire will be on your shelves!
For now, I’m working on edits and revisions. Surviving Adam Meade will be published August 14, 2018.
